What about comedowns?

I answered a question, and I thought it might be useful for some of you to see my answer :)

All these mental illnesses people have… it’s not disease, it the way your brain is built. Rolling, not every week, or even every other week, but every once in a while won’t drastically affect your brain structure, physically or chemically. It will, temporarily, prevent the re-uptake of serotonin, basically causing an excessive amount of serotonin to fly around happily in there. Some people talk about experiencing a “come down” afterwards. This is due mainly to their intense lack of sleep. Staying up all night dancing, running around and burning all your available energy will start to cause intense fatigue and headaches. This is increased by the fact that they have probably not eaten all night due to the ecstasy. It is also intensified by dehydration, and that they have, indeed, drastically depleted their levels of serotonin. Most of the time, sleeping (for a decent amount of time - not a quick nap), eating something, preferably healthy, and drinking a full glass of water should restore you a lot. If you feel that is not enough, or I recommend anyways, take some 5HTP vitamins, sold at local drugstores like Walgreens and some antioxidants, to clean out your brain. I take an antioxidant supplement every day because it makes me feel so good, but you can just eat some blueberries:P  All of this also means getting enough water throughout the day, and enough sleep the next night.

Paranoia is not characteristic of a “come down” and if people experience that it’s because of bad pills, or their personal brain structure.

If you have doubts or reservations about rolling, don’t. You don’t have to. The music and life itself is amazing enough as is.

But if you make the choice to, I believe you will be fine. Just make to sleep when you get tired. A part of you will want to keep the party going, not let the roll stop, and you’ll fight it. Don’t - that’s what makes a bad comedown. I’ve felt tha before, but my boyfriend convinced me to sleep anyways. I woke refreshed, and felt more rolly than when i went to bed. Sleep helps you, being tired hurts your roll.

Basically, its up to you. If you do, i think you’ll be fine:)

If these tips didn’t help you, or didn’t help you enough PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I am constantly trying to make my page better and more helpful, and I won’t be upset by some constructive criticism. It only helps me to help you guys more <3
